Evaluating the Effectiveness of Self- and Co-regulation in the Context of Implementing the Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD)
The main objective of this research is to provide the European Commission with a general description of the existing self- and co-regulatory structures in 28 European Union (EU) Member States, coordinated by the AVMS Directive. Also, the aim is to analyse and evaluate effectiveness of these systems in place and their acceptance by the stakeholders, and accordingly identify the best practice examples in the two selected areas, which are:
the protection of minors from harmful audiovisual content, and
audiovisual commercial communications, in both television broadcasting and in on-demand audiovisual media.
