Self-employment in Latvia and Improvement of Legislation for Better Working Conditions of Self-Employed

The study is carried out on behalf of Baltic Consulting.

The study investigates current situation, trends and legal regulation of self-employment in Latvia with a specific focus on working conditions of self-employed workers, safety-at-work and certain risk sectors. It also includes analysis of legal regulation of self-employment in five foreign countries and cost benefit analysis of occupational accidents and diseases of self-employed. As a result of the study, recommendations are provided to policy makers for necessary changes in national regulation and measures to be taken to improve working conditions and safety-at-work of self-employed workers.
